Change a printed QR code without reprinting it.

A shrnq QR code holds a short link, not the page behind it. Point the link somewhere new and every code you’ve already printed follows.

How a changeable QR code works.

A normal QR code holds the page address itself, so changing the page means reprinting. Yours holds a short link that redirects, so the page behind it can change.

1. Make the link.

Create a short link like shrnq.com/roast and point it at your page. Download its QR code as a PNG or an SVG.

2. Print it.

Put the code on the menu, the bag or the poster. It holds your short link, not the page behind it.

3. Change it any time.

Point the link somewhere new. The next scan lands there, and nothing printed has to change.

What changes, and what doesn’t.

Everything behind the short link is yours to edit. The link itself is what you printed, so it stays put.

Change any time

  • The page it goes to
  • The link’s title, folder and tags
  • An end date, and a fallback page for late scans
  • Turn the link off, and back on
  • Device and country routing (Pro)

Stays the same

  • The short address inside the printed code
  • Your click history on that link
  • The old address, if you rename the link later
  • The code itself: no reprint, no new sticker

Made for things that get printed.

Menus

Point the code at this week’s menu, and swap the page when the prices change.

Packaging

Send scans to a seasonal page now and a reorder page later, on bags that are already printed.

Posters and flyers

Link the event page before the date. Set an end date and a fallback so late scans land on a recap.

Business cards

Start with your portfolio and move to your new site without handing out new cards.

Before you print.

  • Download the SVG for print: it stays sharp at any size. Use the PNG for screens.
  • Scan the printer’s proof with a phone before the full run.
  • Keep strong contrast and a clear margin around the code.
  • On Pro, use your own domain, so the address on the print is yours to keep.

Questions, answered.

Can I change where a QR code points after it’s printed?

Yes, with a code that holds a short link. A shrnq QR code contains your short link, not the destination page. Change where the link goes in your dashboard and the next scan lands on the new page. The printed code stays exactly as it is.

Is this a dynamic QR code?

That’s the usual name for it: the code holds a short link that redirects, so the destination can change. A static QR code holds the page address itself, which can’t be changed without reprinting. Every shrnq link comes with a QR code, with no extra charge per code.

What if I rename the link after printing?

The old address keeps working and opens the same link. A QR code you download after renaming holds the new address.

Do scans show up in my analytics?

Yes. Each scan is a visit to your short link, so it’s counted with your other clicks. Free stores up to 1,000 clicks a month and Pro 100,000. When a month’s allowance is used up, the code keeps working and new clicks simply aren’t stored until the month resets.

Can I add colours or my logo?

Yes. You can set the code’s colours and add a small logo. The logo appears in the SVG download, and shrnq raises the code’s error correction when one is used so it still scans.

What if I stop paying for Pro?

Your workspace returns to Free and links on shrnq.com keep working. Links on your own domains stop working until you upgrade again, then they come back on their own.

Does a scan depend on shrnq being up?

Yes, like any code that can be changed: the scan asks shrnq where to go. If you use your own domain on Pro, the address on the print belongs to you, so you can move it to another service later without reprinting.

Print it once. Change it whenever.

It takes a minute and the first 50 links are free.
