1. Who we are and what this covers

shrnq (the "Service") is a URL-shortening and link-analytics service operated by [LEGAL NAME], carrying on business in Jamaica at [POSTAL ADDRESS] ("shrnq", "we", "us"). Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].

These Terms govern your use of the website at [SITE DOMAIN], the API, the short-link host [SHORT-LINK DOMAIN] and any custom domain you connect, and related services. Our Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy and Copyright & Abuse Policy are part of these Terms.

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Visitors who only click a short link are not bound by these Terms; they are covered by the Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract. The Service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it. If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

3. Your account

Give accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and tell us at once about unauthorised use. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Email verification may be required. We may suspend accounts that look compromised.

4. The Service and plans

  • Free: up to 50 links, 1,000 stored clicks per month, no custom domains.
  • Pro: [PRO PRICE], up to 1,000 links, 100,000 stored clicks per month, up to 3 custom domains.

We may change limits and prices going forward with at least 30 days' notice to paying customers, by email or in the app. A change does not affect a period you have already paid for. When a click cap is reached, links keep redirecting but further clicks may not be recorded. We do not promise any particular uptime; the Service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis.

5. Payments, taxes and renewals

Paid plans are sold and billed by Polar Software, Inc. ("Polar"), our Merchant of Record. When you buy Pro, your purchase contract is with Polar as seller of record. Polar collects payment, calculates and remits applicable VAT, GST and sales tax, and issues receipts. Polar's terms and privacy policy apply at checkout. We learn your subscription status but never see your full card number.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal; Pro continues until the end of the paid period.
  • Refunds are described in the Refund Policy. Polar may also refund or cancel a subscription on its own initiative, for example to prevent a dispute.
  • If a payment fails or is reversed we may move the workspace to Free. Features above the Free limits, such as custom domains, then stop working. Links on the default host keep working within the Free limits.
  • Please contact us before opening a chargeback so we can try to fix the problem.

6. Your content and links

You keep ownership of the destinations, titles, tags and other content you submit ("Your Content"). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit and display Your Content solely to operate, secure and improve the Service. That includes redirecting visitors and showing a warning page where needed.

You are solely responsible for every destination you shorten and for having the right to link to it. You confirm that your use complies with the Acceptable Use Policy.

7. Acceptable use and removal of links

You must not use shrnq for phishing, malware, spam, fraud, illegal content, link cloaking to hide a harmful destination, or any other conduct prohibited by the Acceptable Use Policy.

We may disable or delete any link, block any destination or domain, and suspend or terminate any account, at any time and without prior notice, where we reasonably believe it breaks these Terms or the law, or puts visitors, third parties or our providers at risk. We have no duty to monitor links, but we may. A short link is not promised to redirect forever.

8. Custom domains

If you connect a domain, you confirm you control it and will keep its DNS pointing correctly. If you remove the DNS records or stop paying, links on that domain stop working. You are responsible for what is served under your domain.

9. Analytics and visitor data

When visitors click your links we record limited analytics: approximate country, device type, browser, operating system, referrer, a bot flag, and a visitor key that rotates daily (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for lawful use of this information, for any notice you owe your own visitors, and for not trying to re-identify them. If you need a Data Processing Addendum, email [PRIVACY EMAIL].

10. Copyright and abuse reports

Rights holders and anyone else can report links through the report form or at [ABUSE EMAIL]. See the Copyright & Abuse Policy. We terminate repeat infringers.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, brand, software and design belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. Do not copy, resell or scrape the Service, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or try to get around limits. If you send feedback we may use it without obligation.

12. Third-party services

The Service depends on the providers listed on the Subprocessors page. We are not responsible for third-party sites that you or others link to.

13. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing [CONTACT EMAIL]. Deleting your account cancels any Pro subscription immediately. No further charges follow, and the unused part of the period you paid for ends with the account. Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy and Polar's refund rules.

We may suspend or end your access immediately for breach, legal requirement, non-payment or risk, and on 30 days' notice for any other reason. If we end a paid plan without cause we refund the unused part of the paid period. When you delete your account, deletion is immediate: links stop redirecting and Your Content and analytics are erased. The short addresses you created are retired and never reassigned. We keep only what we must keep by law or for abuse and fraud records (including abuse reports), a record of the terms you accepted (linked to an anonymised account ID), and rolling backups, which roll off within 7 days. When we end an account, we delete its data within 30 days.

14. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of analytics, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Click counts are approximate and bot filtering is best-effort.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill; and (b) our total liability arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (i) what you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event and (ii) US$50. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or under mandatory consumer rights.

16. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, links you create, your breach of these Terms or the law, or your infringement of a third party's rights, to the extent the law allows.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will tell you about material changes by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, or sooner if the law requires or to stop abuse. When the Terms change you will be asked to accept the new version. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date is acceptance.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Jamaica have jurisdiction, except that consumers resident in the EU or UK keep the mandatory consumer protections, and the right to use the courts, of their home country. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a dispute informally.

19. General

These Terms are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If a part is unenforceable the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor. Nobody else has rights under these Terms. Neither side is liable for events beyond its reasonable control. We give notice to you by email, and you can give notice to us at [CONTACT EMAIL] or [POSTAL ADDRESS].
